Coinbase to Launch Tokenized Stocks, Prediction Markets in US

Coinbase says it plans to launch tokenized stocks and prediction markets for users in the US in the coming months. Per an announcement from the exchange on Thursday, Coinbase will offer tokenized real-world assets, stocks, derivatives, prediction markets, and early-stage token sales, with testing available to US users first.

“We’re building an exchange for everything,” Max Branzburg, vice president of product at Coinbase, tells CNBC. “Everything you want to trade, in a one-stop shop, on-chain. We’re bringing all assets on-chain stocks, prediction markets, and more. We’re building the foundations for a faster, more accessible, more global economy.” The expansion of Coinbase’s products puts it in further competition with exchanges like Robinhood and Kraken, which all already offer tokenized stocks.

Currently, tokenized equities are not available for trading in the United States. However, several firms are experimenting with offering these products. Coinbase rival Kraken said earlier this year that it is launching tokens of U.S. equities, called xStocks, which will be available in select markets outside the United States. However, Coinbase is looking to launch its first tokenized stocks in the US, thanks to recent revised crypto regulation by the US government.

Indeed, the tokenization of stocks and other traditional, non-crypto native assets has surged in popularity this year. The Trump administration has worked to roll back restrictive crypto policies from the previous U.S. leadership, with the SEC even doing the same under new leadership.

Earlier today, Coinbase announced a partnership with JPMorgan to allow Chase customers to fund Coinbase accounts with credit cards. The deal begins this Fall, but tokenized stocks on Coinbase do not have an expected launch date yet. The exchange is also launching XRP and SOL futures on August 18, 2025.
